HBO Unveils New Hi-Def Re-Mastering of The Wire

HBO® Unveils New High-Definition Re-Mastering of

Award-Winning Hit Series The Wire®

In the six years that have passed since the conclusion of the HBO series The Wire,  the critically acclaimed drama has turned into a worldwide phenomenon that has been hailed as "one of the best and most original series on television in decades" by the New York Times. Now, new and old fans of the series can watch the show like never before thanks to a brand new High-Definition upgrade of all 60 episodes, which will debut in December on HBO Signature® and HBO GO®. The Wire: The Complete Series will be available to own on Digital HD Monday, January 5, 2015 and on Blu-rayTM in Summer 2015.

·  The entire series has been beautifully re-mastered in 16x9 Full-Frame HD from more than 8,000 reels of original 35mm camera negative, allowing for a tighter fit on widescreen TVs and computer/tablet screens. The original negatives were scanned, edited, dust-busted and color-corrected with great care and attention taken to stay true to the look and feel of the original Standard-Definition 4x3 version.

·  The Wire: The Complete Series in HD will be available for the first time as a full series purchase at iTunes, Google Play, X-Box Video and Vudu on January 5. Individual episodes and seasons will be available through all of HBO's Digital HD retailers.

·  To celebrate the HD launch, HBO Signature will air the entire series consecutively, one season per day starting with season 1 on Friday, December 26 at noon. The marathon will wrap with season 5 on Tuesday, December 30.

·  This will be the first time The Wire has aired on a linear HBO channel since Season 5 wrapped in 2008, as well as the first time that all five seasons of the entire series have aired consecutively on the network.

·  All 60 episodes will also be available in HD on HBO GO starting December 26.

TOOTH & CLAW Gets New Printing and New Title @Imagecomics

TOOTH & CLAW gets new printing and new title:
THE AUTUMNLANDS: TOOTH & CLAW
as of second issue

The breakout new hit series from Busiek & Dewey features
alternate cover by Skottie Young on issue three

The first issue of the richly written and drawn fantasy TOOTH & CLAW will go back to print, but under a new title: THE AUTUMNLANDS. The bombshell launch by bestselling writer Kurt Busiek (MarvelsAstro City), artist Benjamin Dewey (I Was the Cat, Tragedy Series), Eisner-winning colorist Jordie Bellaire (THE MANHATTAN PROJECTS, PRETTY DEADLY), and letterer John Roshell of Comicraft will also boast an alternate cover on issue three by artist superstar Skottie Young (Rocket Raccoon, Wizard of Oz).

"The launch of our new series has gone beautifully," said Busiek. "We couldn't be happier. Well, maybe just a little happier. I'm still not sure how we managed to screw up the trademark search. But as it turns out, the title we thought was clear for use is in fact registered to someone else, which is embarrassing as all hell. Oops.

"So as of #2, the book will be titled The Autumnlands: Tooth & Claw," he went on, "and we'll do our best to make sure people won't miss it on the racks, or think it's some wholly-different series. As you'll see, we did make sure the logo will still be recognizable to the readers who snapped up #1.

"We're also thrilled that #1 sold through as fast as it did, because that means a new printing," said Busiek. "Retailers have been asking me since #1 sold out how soon a new printing would be available, and I'm very pleased to be able to say it's on the way. Plus, it'll have the new logo on it, so that gets us the right title on the book, even on a printing of #1.

"Plus," Busiek added, "the idea of the 'autumnlands' is central to how the series works and is going to progress. Now readers can get a jump on figuring out just what that means..."

Best described as Conan meets Kamandi with a Game of Thrones-style storytelling experience, Comic Book Resources says of THE AUTUMNLANDS, “each panel is worth the cover price all by itself, but combined this is a comic book that simply cannot be missed,” while Multiversity Comics raves, “This is the beauty of creativity and collaborative storytelling.”

In THE AUTUMNLANDS, a secret conclave of wizards brings a legendary champion forward through time from the forgotten past to save the world—with disastrous consequences. The story features swords, sorcery, beast-wizards, gods, sprawling animal empires, golems of radioactive decay, crystalline badlands, con women, ancient armories, young love, mystery, blood and death and treachery and destiny.

In the AUTUMNLANDS: TOOTH & CLAW #3, readers will meet Goodfoot the Sly. But is she really here to help the wizards... or herself?

THE AUTUMNLANDS: TOOTH & CLAW #1, 2nd printing (Diamond Code OCT148281) will be available on 1/7 as a double-sized 44-page issue with no ads for only $2.99.

THE AUTUMNLANDS: TOOTH & CLAW #2 Cover A by Dewey is available today, 12/3, and can be ordered with Diamond Code OCT140609. Cover B by Alex Ross is available with Diamond Code OCT140610.

THE AUTUMNLANDS: TOOTH & CLAW #3 Cover A by Dewey will be available with Diamond Code NOV140692 on 1/21/2015. Cover B by Skottie Young will be available with Diamond Code NOV140693.

December 3, 2014 (Los Angeles, Calif.) - In 1984, Jim Davis created an instant classic with a groundbreaking series of illustrated short stories called Garfield: His 9 Lives, setting the Fat Cat in various eras. It went on to be an animated special in 1988 with some of the most unique reimaginings of Garfield. This January, KaBOOM!, the award-winning all-ages imprint of publisher BOOM! Studios, is pleased to relive this classic with a four-part event starting in January’s Garfield #33: His 9 Lives, Part 1.

Garfield: His 9 Lives was such a fun look at everyone’s favorite Fat Cat that we couldn’t resist inviting an all-star cast of cartoonists to carry on the torch,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “This is Garfield as you’ve never seen him before, depicted in each artist’s own unique way across time, from Cave Cat to Space Cat. This is an event you won’t want to miss.”

The journey begins with “Cave Cat,” as David DeGrand (Spongebob Comics) takes us back to Garfield’s first life, during the earliest days of life on Earth. Then, Kari Smith (Plume) illustrates “King Cat,” as we see how Garfield got down in Ancient Egypt. Subsequent issues will include contributions from Frazer Irving (Batman & Robin), Andy Hirsch (Garfield), Roger Langridge (Snarked), Brittney Williams (Adventure Time), Yehudi Mercado (Rocket Salvage), and Genevieve FT (Adventure Time).

Garfield #33: His 9 Lives, Part 1 arrives in comic shops from KaBOOM! on January 7th with a cover price of $3.99 under Diamond order code NOV141154. The main cover is illustrated by series artist Andy Hirsch, with an incentive cover by Kari Smith. The Final Order Cutoff deadline for retailers is December 15th. Not sure where to find your nearest comic retailer? Use comicshoplocator.com or findacomicshop.com to find one! It’s also available for order directly from boom-studios.com.

December 2, 2014 (Los Angeles, Calif.) - Award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios is excited to announce it will be working with longtime, respected, and widely popular comics creator Jimmy Palmiotti on a new comic series, his first-ever original title with the company. The book, co-created and co-written by Matt Brady (Warlord of Mars), will debut in March and be announced next week.

Recently, BOOM! Studios has worked on original projects with comics luminaries including George Pérez, Brian Stelfreeze, Paul Jenkins, and Mike Carey. Earlier this year in July, the publisher announced upcoming titles with J.G. Jones, Mark Waid, Frank Cho, and Grant Morrison. BOOM! continues to add to its impressive roster with the addition of  Palmiotti, who has been making comics for over 25 years and is currently working on DC Comics’ top-selling series Harley Quinn with his wife, Amanda Conner, and Painkiller Jane at Marvel Comics’ Icon imprint.

“I’ve been talking on and off for the past few years with Ross and Filip about bringing something to them,” said Palmiotti, referring to BOOM! Studios’ CEO Ross Richie and President of Publishing & Marketing Filip Sablik. “Matt and I were looking for the right company to bring our creation to. We thought BOOM! was the perfect fit for the project. We’re looking forward to announcing it next week.“

“I’ve been reading Jimmy’s work for years and I’m a fan of the complex character-driven stories he tells. We’ve wanted to work with him for a long time, and I’m glad we’re finally able to do so,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “We look forward to sharing information on this new series with everybody very soon!”

Jimmy Palmiotti began his career working as an inker alongside frequent collaborator Joe Quesada and eventually began writing as well, going on to work on such titles as Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Punisher, Jonah Hex, and Deadpool. He and Quesada spearheaded the creation of the Marvel Knights line, and the pair also created Ash and Painkiller Jane together for their company Event Comics, the latter of which was adapted into a TV movie for SyFy Channel. Palmiotti is currently president of PaperFilms Entertainment and is co-writing Harley Quinn and Star Spangled War Stories for DC Comics monthly.
